MRD Moves to Alliant Energy Center for 2009 Roller Derby Season
Madrollin’ Dolls are packing up their skates and their attitudes for a move to the Alliant Energy Center and an expanded season of streaming hot Roller Derby Action starting with the first season bout Jan. 10.
The new venue means more fans can get a seat, and they will all have great view of all the action and no trouble finding a place to park.
Mad Rollin’ Dolls bouted at Fast Forward Skate Center for their first four seasons. As the buzz circulated, crowds grew until bouts were regularly selling out. Disappointed fans without advance tickets had to be turned away at the door. After hosting the Eastern Regional Tournament, Derby in Dairyland, at the Alliant Energy Center in October, the Dolls knew they’d found a new home.
The Dolls have announced their schedule for 2009. Please note that some bouts are in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, others in Exhibition Hall and the Arena Building. Days and times also vary.
Saturday, Jan. 10, 6 p.m., Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Sunday, Feb. 1, 1 p.m. (pre-Super Bowl matinee), Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Saturday, March 7, 6 p.m., Exhibition Hall
Saturday, March 21, 6 p.m., Arena Building
Sunday, April 5, 3 p.m., Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Saturday, April 25, 6 p.m., Exhibition Hall
Saturday, May 16, 6 p.m., Exhibition Hall

Thanks to the Carolina Roller Girls
The Mad Rollin' Dolls want to send a huge thank you to the Carolina Roller Girls for being such organized and fun hosts last weekend! They had us in hand from the moment our planes touched down to a fun meet & greet, through two kick-ass roller derby bouts, all the way up to an awesome afterparty. A special thank you goes out to NC announcer Rocketboy -- thanks for keeping the Bootlegger spirit alive! ;)
The NC All Stars showed why they are ranked #6 in the nation with their tight packs and stellar speed control - final score 131-54 over the DD's.
B Team Bootleggers look well on their way to making the jump to A Team status with their smooth transitions and deadly regeneration - final score 104 - 54 over Team Unicorn.
Lots of pictures here and here.
A great weekend complete with some great roller derby - what more could a girl ask for? Oh yeah, a huge audience for the final game of 2008! Make sure to get your tickets now for the Holiday Bout, you can order them here.

Holiday Bout! Saturday, Dec. 13, at Fast Forward!
Feel like Scrooge during the hectic holidays? If you’ve already had it with eggnog and fruitcake, try a helping of roller derby, served up fresh at the Mad Rollin’ Dolls’ Holiday Bout.
On Saturday Dec. 13, members of the Quad Squad, Reservoir Dolls, Unholy Rollers, and Vaudeville Vixens will set aside their grudges and form two holiday-themed teams to compete in MRD’s third annual Holiday Bout (or Ho Bout, as the locals call it). Team Candy will take on Team Coal in three periods of spirited roller derby, guaranteed to put everyone in the holiday mood—and give you fresh ideas for combating the mall crowds.
The Holiday Bout has become tradition in Madison’s derbyland, so if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out the festivities in all their glittered glory. In addition to showing off the fresh crop of newbies, the Dolls want to spread the holiday cheer—and that means stockings stuffed with hard-hitting action and lots of bell-ringin’, derby-style.
Get there early to hear an all-MRD flute choir play the national anthem, and stay out late to party with the dolls at the Wisco (otherwise known as the Willy Street Pub, 852 Williamson St.).
The action all goes down at Fast Forward Skate Center, 4649 Verona Rd., Madison. Doors open at 6:30 p.m, and the first jam starts at 7 p.m. Tickets for the bout are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. You can buy tickets at Fast Forward Skate Center, Freedom/Knuckleheads, Capital City Tattoo, Cha Cha Beauty & Barber, the High Noon Saloon, Lakeside Press, and online at http://madrollindolls.com/.
After a summer and fall full of inter-league play, the Mad Rollin’ Dolls regroup and kick off their fifth regular season Saturday, January 10, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center. Check the website, http://madrollindolls.com/, for the full 2009 season schedule.

Together for the first time - Dairyland Dolls and Team Unicorn
For the first time since the formation of Team Unicorn, they will be appearing in a double header with the Dairyland Dolls. Sadly, unless you can make it down to North Carolina this weekend, Madison fans won't be able to see it in person. Nevertheless, this is bound to be a really fun experience, and none of the skaters can wait! Rumors of a webcast have been floating around... if there does turn out to be a way for fans in Madison to watch the bouts live I'll make sure to mention it here.
The bouts are the DD's vs NC's All Stars and TU vs the Carolina Bootleggers. Check out the sweet poster!
