MRD invites 12 leagues to Eastern Championships. And that includes the Dairyland Dolls!

Are you excited about the Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association’s Eastern Regional Tournament Oct. 10 – 12 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center, Madison, Wis.? The Dolls are beyond exited and can't wait to share all this Derby fun, excitement and love with all of you.

The tournament, “Derby in Dairyland,” will bring hundreds of women from the 12 top-ranked leagues in the Eastern region to complete for the title of Best in the East. The top four teams will advance to the National Tournament, Nov. 14 – 16 in Portland, Ore., where they will meet up with the top four teams from the Western region.

As you fans know, women’s roller derby has experienced an explosive revival in the past five years, with hundreds of leagues forming throughout the U.S. Almost 60 of these leagues are affiliated with the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA).

“This tournament is proof positive to Madison that roller derby isn’t just a passing phenomenon,” says Paine Mansfield, Mad Rollin’ Dolls (MRD) General Manager and a member of the Madison all-star team, the Dairyland Dolls.

“Hundreds of derby girls and even more derby fans will converge on our city in October,” Mansfield says, pointing out that hosting the event is an honor for the Madison league. She encourages Madison residents to take advantage of this opportunity to see top all-star teams in a series of fast-paced, hard-hitting bouts.

Tickets for the tournament in Madison are on sale now at www.derbyindairyland.com.

In addition to the Dairyland Dolls, teams invited to compete include the all-stars from New York (Gotham Girls Roller Derby), Raleigh (Carolina Roller Girls), Chicago (Windy City Rollers), Philadelphia (Philly Roller Girls), Detroit (Detroit Derby Girls), Baltimore (Charm City Roller Girls), Boston (Boston Derby Dames), St. Paul (Minnesota Roller Girls), Grand Rapids (Grand Raggidy Roller Girls), Cincinnati (Cincinnati Rollergirls), and Virginia Beach (Dominion Derby Girls).

Roller Derby events during the tournament weekend include a range of after-parties, bands, entertainment and shenanigans. For more information, visit Derby in Dairyland.
