Mad Rollin’ Dolls Begin Fourth Season

The Mad Rollin’ Dolls kick off their fourth season of hard-hitting, lightning-fast, skirt-flipping flat track roller derby action on Saturday night, Jan. 26, at Fast Forward Skate Center.
After a series of inter-league bouts with teams from Texas, Arizona and Colorado, and a major eastern regional tournament last summer and fall, the home teams have gained more speed and experience, sneakier strategies, and a few tricks that promise to make 2008’s season more thrilling than anything hometown fans have ever seen before.
The reigning champion Reservoir Dolls, determined to defend their title, will take on the feisty Vaudeville Vixens. The Quad Squad, number two in 2007, will face the Unholy Rollers. All four teams have strong new skaters in their line-ups, and are ready to start the season with a win; but they might settle for a bench-clearing brawl.
As always, cold beer and hot Mad Rollin’ Dolls merchandise will be on tap. Join the Dolls at the Badger Bowl for post mortems and music by Pupy Costello & His Big City Honky Tonk. The show is free with a ticket stub, $5 without.
Tickets for the season opener are available at Fast Forward Skate Center, Freedom/Knuckleheads, Capitol City Tattoo, Cha Cha Beauty and Barber, High Noon Saloon, and Lakeside Press. Or you can buy tickets on line at www.madrollindolls.com. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 day of show. The doors open at 6:30 p.m., action starts at 7p.m., at Fast Forward Skate Center, 4649 Verona Rd., Madison.
A portion of proceeds from the bout will be donated to the Britnee Smears Leg Fund. Star skater Britnee shattered her leg in freak fall during the 2007 season.
